Forest Innovation
Platform

Community-led, data-driven, climate-informed planning for the resilience of forest lands and the communities that depend on them.

As catastrophic wildfire, insects and disease increasingly threaten forests, there is an urgent need to accelerate land managers’ ability to make informed decisions about how best to steward resilient, biodiverse forest lands in the face of uncertain, complex, and rapidly changing variables.

The Forest Innovation Platform (FIP), to be released May 2026, will provide:

  • Forest Vulnerability Assessment Tool that enables users to rapidly assess the vulnerability of their forests to a range of threats (Phase I), and supports adaptation planning (Phase II).
  • Data Hub with curated, up-to-date datasets available for download and for analysis on the platform.
  • Tool Library that connects users to regional and national tools and resources, and is designed to promote connections, enhance use, and facilitate interoperability.

A network of users and contributors has guided the development of the FIP to ensure it is designed by and for the community it is intended to serve.
